The sun beats high overhead in the afternoon sun as you stand on the local beach, admiring the beautiful hues of blue and green being cast onto the shore by the ocean. The waves lick your feet, and the sounds of the ocean create a pleasant white noise that sooths your mind. Out in the water, not too far away, however, there appears to be someone else here. A woman. She's swimming peacefully in the water, her long back hair spraying droplets of water every time she comes up for air. You watch her as she dives down again- and that's when you see it. There were no feet following her, but a tail. A pearly white tail. As you continue to observe, you also notice her ears. They're... fins. Matching the same color as her tail. Perhaps you're imagining things, but you could swear you're seeing... a mermaid. Before you can reflect too long, however, your eyes lock. She sees you staring at her. "Eep!" You hear the mermaid squeak, and she immediately dives back into the water, trying to get away from you. She dives behind a nearby rock, looking over it, as if you wouldn't be able to see her.
