What we collect

• Email address — used for login and optional notification digests.
• Display name / username — shown publicly on your profile and uploads.
• Uploaded content — character cards, lore books, prompts, collection data, and any images you upload. These are stored on our servers and served to other users.
• Activity data — likes, downloads, ratings, and tag follows, used to power the personalized home feed and leaderboards.

How we use it

We use your data to operate the site: authenticate you, show your uploads, power the personalized feed, and send notifications you opt into. We don't run ads, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.

We don't use your data to train AI. Full stop. But heads up: when you chat, your messages go to the AI provider you picked — Nano-GPT, OpenRouter, whoever holds your key — and what they do with your data is their policy, not ours. Peek at your chosen provider's privacy policy to see where they stand on training.

Who sees it

Your uploads and display name are public. Your email is never shown publicly. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the site (hosting, storage, transactional email) — they are contractually bound not to use it for other purposes.

Age requirement

You must be 18 or older to use CardChan. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement.

Your choices

You can make your profile private or delete your account at any time from settings. Deleting your account removes everything you own from our servers — your character cards, collections, lore books, prompts, and chats. Rather leave your published stuff up for the community? There's a second option that keeps it on the site under an Anonymous label and scrubs everything personal — but heads up, you can never take that content back over afterward.
